Pro-Life

Pro-Life

Human life is a precious gift from God and all men are called to the fullness of life and obligated to protect life at every stage of its existence.

While many people focus on single issues that impact life, the Catholic Church promotes a culture that respects life from conception until natural death.

Protection and defense of human life means being against abortion, euthanasia, the death penalty, and war.

It also means being caring for the poor, the disabled, the elderly, the vulnerable, and making sure that people have food, shelter, clothing, and health care.

The Catholic Church designates October as Respect Life Month and celebrates Respect Life Sunday on the first Sunday in October.

Every life has value:

The reality, importance, and value of life:

Care and dignity for God’s gift of life:

In his hand is the life of every living thing and the breath of all mankind.

Job 12: 10

All life is sacred:

A consistent ethic of life:

Every human life, from the moment of conception until death, is sacred because the human person has been willed for its own sake in the image and likeness of the living and holy God.

Catechism of the Catholic Church 2319

Respect for each other requires respect for life:

Respect for life based on religion and science:

Through the words, the actions and the very person of Jesus, man is given the possibility of “knowing” the complete truth concerning the value of human life. From this “source” he receives, in particular, the capacity to “accomplish” this truth perfectly, that is, to accept and fulfill completely the responsibility of loving and serving, of defending and promoting human life. In Christ, the Gospel of life is definitively proclaimed and fully given.

Pope John Paul II, Evangelium Vitae, March 25, 1995
